Term 4 goals

One of my goals for this term is to get one badge on my jersey so then I can have 5.
I want to get my silver badge sometime this term, and I will be pretty happy if I get it.
I still want to focus a lot on reading, so when I get my report at the end of the year I will be above average.
I want to also carry on improving in maths, and try to extend my learning as far as possible.

Term 3 Week 4

In Tech, we learned a lot about the history of rock music, and when it started. I learned how to do London bridge, and twinkle twinkle little star on the keyboard. I also kinda learned how to play Hound dog by Elvis Presley on the drums and guitar. I had so much fun in band quest, and I'm so happy that we got 3rd place, and how we won $100 for the school. I did my speech, and it was 2:59. I'm not a public speaker, but I think I handled it pretty well, and I think it was better than the one I did last year.

Term 3 Week 3

I learnt to save people in accidents. Someone came and taught us how to do CPR, and how to bandage up someone who is bleeding badly. I learnt a lot in Math with volume, and I think I now have a much better understanding of it compared to last year. In Tech, Quin and I are making a blues song, and I'm also making an advertisement, and we have to make a back ground music for the advert on garage band.

Term 3 Week 2

during the week I was preparing myself for Band Slam which is a rock band competition in Hamilton. We performed out original song and it got 2nd place. For music in tech arts, I learnt about Bob Marley and his history with reggae music. I also learnt how to play three little birds on the keyboard, guitar and drums. For Maths, I learnt how to find the perimeter and area of composite shapes. The college came over for the exhibition for next year, and I'm thinking of doing special effects, outdoor ed, graphic design and one other one.

TERM 2 WEEK 9

This week I got a lot of work done from Monday to Wednesday. I completed my argument writing and worked on my Inquiry a lot. I worked on it at home as well, and I've learned so much about Auschwitz, and how the concentration camps operate. I did a slide show for it, but I put on a short video at the end about a survivor speaking about his memories during the time he was there. I only did math on Monday because that's when I got it all finished. I performed the two rock band songs that we learned.  I was really nervous before we started, but as soon as I started playing I wasn't even nervous, and I really enjoyed it.

Term 2 week 8

I found out that I made it into AIMS football. We have to do practice during Friday sport, after school on Mondays, and a fitness session during lunch on Wednesdays. I had to do an argument writing about if people have to wear  helmet while riding a bike. I agree that people should wear a bike helmet, but I think you shouldn't get fined for it because everyone can make their own decisions. My three reasons are: it helps a lot in accidents, it's visual, and it;s not an effort to wear one. In rockband, I 100% know both the songs we did, and hopefully get to perform it on Thursday in week 9, or 10. In base practice I've also learnt about 8 beat notes which is 8 beats in a bar. For food tech, we had to do a cafe. Since in was away on one of the day, I didn't get a lot of time to plan out my dish, but i ended up making raps with mince and a bunch of other salads. I have almost finished my Math, I only got 1-2 learning intentions left. I learnt a lot more that I knew about ratio. I find it quite easy since It's just like fractions. Fraction, decimals and percentages is my favourite topic in Maths, and I'm glad I'm in the extension group because I've learnt so much more. I finished my holocaust book a week ago and planning to get my book review done in a then next day or two, so then I'll have a week to edit. For my inquiry I'm  basing it on Auchwitz, the concentration camp.

Week 3 Term 2

Lately, I've been doing a lot of trials for WIMS football, and they decided who's in the team and I made it in. For Friday sport we had to do training for Tuesday week 4. I'm really happy I made it into the team. This week, I've been learning a lot about algebra. I've learned so much about equations, and bracketing equations and finding the unknown. I'm still reading my holocaust book for my book review, and I love reading (although It's really sad). It had 7 short stories and I've almost finished the book. For Inquiry, the topic is about the concentration camp. I've chosen one called stutthof which were one of the narrators in the short story I read was kept. I found this website that tells you the population of the concentration camps, and Auschwitz kept 1.1 to 1.3 million Jews and executed 960,000 Jews! Because of band camp I couldn't do guitar, base and rock band rehearsal.

Term 2 Week 1

It's been a good start to the term. One of my goals for term 2 is that I make it into WIMS football.  I didn't make it in last year, but I've improved a lot more through the year. I'm loving rock band and my other goal is to do really well when we perform our song sometime this term. I learned a lot in science this week, and our main focus was on acid, bases and neutral. I learned about a P. H scale from 0-14. Neutral would be rated a 7 on the PH scale. something that is rated 0 will kill you! Things that taste sour, feel like nothing will be acid, and stuff that tastes bitter will be bases.  I also made a bath bomb wich I've never used before and hopefully we can take it home soon. I had to write letter whether people are allowed to cycle on the footpath or road and what policies we should have. In Math, I learned about algebra with patterns and rules which were quite fun. This term I have to try really hard for algebra because I didn't have a great score last year.

Term 1

I've enjoyed this term and made lots of new year 7 friends. I've learnt a lot of new things for English and editing my writing. I'm trying to be a role model to the year 7s. In math, I've learned a lot of place value, scientific notation, (standard form), integers, significant figures and much more. I'm really enjoying rock band and I have just learned the whole song on my bass. I'm also trying out for WIMS football, and hopefully, I will make it in. I preferred fabric this year to last year even though we made four things last year, I'm proud of my jersey and wear it quite a lot during the evening. I missed out making soap and slime for science, but I made blue salt. I loved camp and that was the longest I've stayed away from my parents. My favorite things that we did was, On TV, snorkeling, zoo, H2o extreme, and space place. I also really enjoyed the campsite since we had an awesome jumping mat. Robotics has been real fun, and I'm still practicing guitar and learning a lot of songs and pickings. My favorite weeks this term was camp and the fist week. I'm still learning french, and enjoying it. I have learned how to count up to 30, days of the week, some history, pet animals. My birthday is on the Dix-Huit of Juin. This term hasn't really gone fast for me. Overall, I really enjoyed Term 1 at T.A.I.

TERM 1 WEEK 6&7

I'm really enjoying rock band, and I have been practicing the song. Our song is called heavy dirty souls by 21 pilots. I have been doing a lot of reading tasks lately, and the topic is about the Holocaust which is about the Nazis in WWII. I have learned so much about it Like how over 6 million Jews got executed. In Math, I learned about scientific notation which seemed really confusing at the start, but now I understand it and find it pretty simple. I've also done revision on BEDMAS which is order of operations. Because there is a B at the start of the word it means you would work out the problem that is in brackets because B stands for brackets. Then E stands for exponents after It's D&M which is division and multiplication, then A&S which is addition and subtraction, so after you've worked out the division&multiplication you would then work out addition and subtraction. I've been enjoying robotics lately, and we started using the spheros which I really enjoy. I learned heaps on the video about computer science. I also had to install a game called Atlantic which is about coding your robot and taking it places which sometimes was really difficult with the math. I didn't do very well in the punctuation test, but I've learned so much about commas and awubises. I also learned that an appositive is extra information in a sentence that is not needed, so you put the comma at the start of the appostive and at the end. I've finally finished my jersey for tech arts which I'm really proud of.  

TERM 1 WEEK 5

This week on Thursday the call backs for rock band had to have a go playing as a group, so the teachers could see if we were in time. I'm now officially in rock band playing 4 string bass guitar! We won softball 8-3 against room 16, so now we have a 3 win streak. I worked hard at soft materials to get my white hoodie on which was really hard, and some of my pouch poket got sewed on. We had a boating safety thing in the pool and I leared some new things like how you have to lie on tou back with your feet toward the current while you are going down a river, and when you jump into the water with a life jacket on you hold onto your life jacket near the neck and take 1 step into the water. We had swimming sports, and I got 3rd in non champs freestyle, and 2nd in non champs flutta board and walking race. I was also in the year 8 relay for Mangapiko and we came 2nd in the relay, but sadly Magapiko came 4th overall. In math, I've practically finished the worksheet that you have to round significant figures with. I learned that a significant figure would be a number like 10. e.g round 19.73 to a significant figure. Answer =20. At home I've practiced how to read music for bass guitar, and I found it pretty simple. I did robotics for the first time this year and I really enjoyed it. I learned about Binary digits which is known as bits. It gets complicating but the first bit would be 1, then 2, 4,8,16,32, etc. If you had to figure ou the number 18 you would turn over bit, 16 and 2, so the would go 0,1,0,0,1,0.

TERM 1 WEEK 4

This week we have been doing tech arts, and I finally know how to start up a sewing machine and thread it all. I sewed my logo on the back of my jersey. It says U K and they are both in red. I also sewed my shoulders together, so now the back and front of my jersey are together. I learned that you always have to zig-zag stitch on the edge of the jersey and that you straight stitch on the hem. I learned about estimation. so if you have 45+73, you would round the 45 to 50 and the 73 down to 70, because now it's easier to work out. 50+70=120. If you have a big number like 312 you would just round it down to 300. In math, I'm also doing factors and multiples. I know to work out the highest common multiple of, for example, 12 and 18. 1, 2, 3, 6 are all common multiple of both numbers because those four numbers can be multiplied into 12 and 18. So the highest common multiple is 6. I still don't know if I'm in rock band since we have to do another callback. I learned some new rules in soft ball. The rules are stricter and now it's 2 strikes, 3 fouls, 3 balls, and 2 out, side away. I also learned in softball that the two people in the diamond, if they get the ball they can tag the runner, and get them out. For my explanation, I am learning about the great wall of China. It was built over 2000 year ago!

term 1 week 3

This week I was a call back for rock band, bass guitar. I had to learn a song in 1 week and I think I did pretty well. We are in the finals against room 13 for Danish rounder,s so we have been doing a lot of games and hopefully we will win the competition. I had to do an asttle writing test about is sport more important than music, or is music more important. I chose sport, and my three reasons are, health and exercise, recognition for your school, town or country, and learn to co-operate with people. I am really enjoying soft materials and we have just started making our jersey. We had to cut out the body sleeves hood etc. My body is dark blue, my pouch poket, sleeves and logo are red, and my hood is white.

WEEK 2 TERM 1

We only had 4 days at school because on Monday it was a long weekend. I'm getting to know a lot about the year 7s, and some of them are my friends. Mr. Ellis thinks I'm a good guitar picker so he wants me to perform in the symphonic band for base guitar, and he wants me to audition for the rock band which I'm a bit nervous about. I have to learn a song in guitar in a week and I chose, numb by Linkin park. We did minor games and I learned a lot of games that I forgot about from last year such as, Danish rounders, long ball, hash cricket which I really enjoy and scatter ball. I'm working on a visual language task about things about me, and I just finished an application task for house captain. So far I'm enjoying this year at T.A.I and it's different being the year 8 helping out the year 7s.
